Measuring Guide

Designed for Large-Scale Centerpiece Boards

HK Woods boards are crafted as substantial, statement pieces — often 20” x 24” and larger. Because of their size and weight, they typically become a semi-permanent feature of your kitchen.

Taking careful measurements ensures a precise fit and long-term stability.

All measurements must be submitted in whole inches.

Step 1: Measure Your Dedicated Space

Choose where your board will live — typically a kitchen island or main prep zone.

Measure:

  • Length (left to right)
  • Width (front to back)

If placing between fixed elements (backsplash, wall, appliance edge), measure the smallest available opening.

Due to the scale of these boards, accuracy is important. We recommend rounding down to the nearest whole inch if the space is tight to ensure proper placement.

Step 2: Choose Your Thickness

Larger boards perform best with added mass and stability.

1.5” – Balanced weight and durability
1.75”–2” – Heavier, professional-grade feel (recommended for large formats)

Thicker boards provide greater stability for heavy prep and daily use.

Step 3: Confirm Before Ordering

Measure twice.
Confirm all dimensions are in whole inches.
Ensure the order form matches exactly.

Each board is built precisely to the measurements submitted.

Important Notes

  • All boards are made to order allow two weeks for product to be made
  • Large-format boards are substantial and may function as semi-permanent features
  • Customer-provided measurements are final sale unless defective
  • Natural wood variation is expected and part of solid hardwood

Striped Design with Front Lip (+2” Depth)

Our Striped Design includes a built-in front lip that extends downward over the front edge of your island or counter, adding stability and a custom, built-in appearance.

This design adds 2 inches to the total depth measurement.

Measure your flat surface depth in whole inches. We will add 2 inches for the lip.

Example:
If your island depth is 27 inches, the finished board will measure 29 inches overall (27-inch surface + 2-inch lip).

Ensure you have at least 2 inches of vertical clearance for the lip.

The lip increases stability, reduces movement, and reinforces the board’s permanent, centerpiece feel.
